Repertoire Development Grants is sponsored by OPERA America. This biennial grant program provides financial support to OPERA America Professional Company Members for the development of new American operas and music theater works. Grants allow creators and producers to refine works-in-progress by funding creative fees and other costs, including those for lab productions, workshops, readings, and revisions.

Repertoire Development Grants Repertoire Development Grants Repertoire Development Grants support OPERA America Professional Company Members in the United States and Canada and their producing partners in meeting the costs associated with developing new North American opera and music theater works. Repertoire Development Grants allow creators and/or producers to assess and refine a work-in-progress.
The primary intent of these grants is to provide financial assistance for the development of the work and the creative process, although some proposed projects may also serve an audience development purpose.
Repertoire Development Grants are made possible through the generosity of OPERA America’s Opera Fund, which provides financial and technical support to Professional Company Members of OPERA America and their partners as part of a broader effort to enhance the quality, quantity, and enjoyment of opera and music theater. The Opera Fund was launched by the National Endowment for the Arts and is funded by The Helen F.
Whitaker Fund; Lee Day Gillespie; Lloyd and Mary Ann Gerlach; The Mellon Foundation; The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation; and The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
