Faculty & Researchers – Maine Space Grant Consortium Our goal is to strengthen Maine’s STEM research capacity in areas mutually beneficial to NASA and to the State of Maine’s growing space economy. Achieving this goal is made possible by the following Space Grant activities as well as through our Maine NASA EPSCoR programs.
The purpose of this program is to help researchers develop and refine their project ideas for grant proposals to NASA or other agencies This is a collaborative program that gives priority to those participating in the Ideas Lab Workshops.
Funding supports seed research projects Our Maine NASA EPSCoR Program includes a larger funded three-year research program and an Annual Research Infrastructure Development (RID) program Higher Education Curriculum Development and Revision Program This program supports faculty at Maine higher education institutions in their development of a new course/curriculum, or in revising an existing one.
Maine SmallSat and Launch This is a collaborative program that combines existing knowledge with new ideas in the areas of small satellite design, development and launch activities Funding can support travel expenses for faculty/researchers to visit NASA, present at a professional conference, or assist with research activities. Eligible awards are made first-come, First-served.

Economics of AI Fellowship is sponsored by Stripe. The fellowship supports foundational academic research in the economics of AI, an area currently understudied despite rapid technical progress in artificial intelligence. Fellows receive a baseline grant, opportunities to attend conferences with leading economists and technologists, and potential access to unique data via Stripe and its customers.
The UKRI Policy Fellowships 2025, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council, offer 18-month placements for academics to co-design research with UK government and What Works Network host organizations. Awards range from £180,000 to £280,000 and support three fellowship tracks: core policy fellows, Natural Hazards and Resilience policy fellows, and What Works Innovation fellows. Government-hosted positions target early to mid-career academics, while What Works fellowships welcome all career stages.
