This research can provide valuable information regarding the safety, efficacy and tolerability of our products and supplements the comprehensive data generated in registration studies. Research Scholars Program We support innovative, independent research from emerging investigators around the world to incorporate new perspectives in our pursuit of scientific understanding and progress.
We believe that new, diverse voices and research topics are needed to advance knowledge in areas of unmet medical need. Community-Based Participatory Research We support efforts by community-based organizations to lead and participate in research to improve services and quality of care for diverse local populations. We believe communities benefit when organizations rooted in their neighborhoods are involved in health research.
Externally Sponsored Research We offer opportunities to request funding, study drug, or other support from Gilead for independent or collaborative externally sponsored research. You may apply through any Request for Proposal (RFP) programs or RFP Topics of Interest, which are focused on specific populations and areas of investigation. In addition, you may submit your own research concept with a Letter of Interest.
Research Scholars Program Since its launch in 2008, the Research Scholars Program has supported meaningful research by high-caliber, emerging investigators to help transform scientific understanding, address knowledge gaps, and drive medical breakthroughs in the following therapeutic areas: Virology: HIV and Viral Hepatitis Community-Based Participatory Research Programs We are committed to supporting research efforts by community-based organizations aimed at improving health outcomes in populations of need.
We provide funding support for innovative Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) projects that are drug-agnostic in a variety of therapeutic areas.

The U.S. Government Policy for Stopping High-Risk Life Sciences Research, released July 28, 2026 under EO 14292 and implemented at NIH through NOT-OD-26-101, replaces mitigation with prohibition. It bans dangerous gain-of-function research outright, gates potential DGOF behind government-wide review, and creates International Research of Concern — a research-security regime wearing biosafety clothing.
