Research Grants (Emerging Researcher Grant, Traditional Research Grant, International Collaborative Research Grant, Research Seed Grant)

Research Grants from the ASRT Foundation support scientific research in medical imaging and radiation therapy through four award types: the Emerging Researcher Grant, Traditional Research Grant, International Collaborative Research Grant, and Research Seed Grant.

The Emerging Researcher Grant, which provides up to $4,000, also includes complimentary access to professional development courses and the opportunity to be matched with a research mentor. Eligible applicants must be voting ASRT members with at least one year of membership history, be registered or licensed in a primary radiologic science modality in the United States, or be enrolled in an accredited radiologic science program.

Principal investigators may not have received more than one previous ASRT Foundation research grant. Award amounts vary by grant type.

Emerging Researcher Grant The Emerging Researcher Grant supports medical imaging and radiation therapy students and professionals aspiring to conduct scientific research in medical imaging and radiation therapy.

This research grant provides additional support for the emerging researcher, with complimentary access to professional development courses to boost research and writing skills along with the opportunity to be paired with a research mentor. The grant funds projects up to $4,000.

The principal investigator must be a voting ASRT member with at least one year of ASRT membership history, have received no more than one previous research grant and meet at least one of the following requirements: Be registered to practice in the U.S. in a primary modality Hold an unrestricted state license Be enrolled in an accredited radiologic science program as a student Review the Emerging Researcher Guide for complete eligibility and submission requirements and the award program timeline.

Download, complete and email the Emerging Researcher Questionnaire and accompanying letter of support to [email protected] . After your eligibility is verified, you will receive access to Research and Writing Essentials: The Series and be assigned a research mentor.

Participate in at least three meetings with your research mentor for: Feedback on your draft application Final preparation for your initial application Complete and submit the Emerging Researcher Application . The Research and Grants Advisory Panel will review your application and provide feedback.

Following the review, you will either: Be invited to submit a full proposal application, or Have the opportunity to meet with your research mentor to address the feedback and resubmit your application. *Steps 1-3 are optional, though highly recommended and designed to support you in submitting a successful research grant.
