It's a reinvestment in our mission. Because your research stimulates innovation. Each year MTF Biologics awards research grants to applicants selected through a peer review process to provide funding for new and on-going research projects.

Scientific grants are awarded to researchers at accredited institutions in support of innovation in allograft transplantation. MTF Biologics currently offers two types of Research Grants. Dermal Allograft Innovation Grants Allograft dermal matrices (ADMs) and skin allografts are widely used in reconstructive and regenerative procedures, including breast surgery, wound healing, and abdominal wall reconstruction.

Current applications primarily rely on sheet-based products. However, there is an increasing need for innovative technologies that expand the versatility of ADM and skin, increase clinical utility, improve storage and handling, and enable new clinical applications.

Emerging concepts such as flowable or particulate ADM, 3D printed constructs, tissue-engineered skin, viable dermal tissues, and advanced preservation technologies represent transformative opportunities for patient care.

MTF Biologics invites Translational and Clinical Research proposals that accelerate innovation in allograft dermis and skin by developing new enabling technologies, novel clinical uses, advanced processing or delivery methods, and next generation product forms.

Innovation in Allografts Translational Grants This program supports high‑impact translational and clinical research that advances allograft tissue science and improves patient outcomes. Proposed research must utilize allograft tissues or allograft‑derived materials and include a clear, credible pathway toward clinical translation.

Projects focused solely on autologous, synthetic‑only, or non‑allograft‑centered technologies are out of scope. Clinical areas of interest include orthopaedics, plastic and reconstructive surgery, aesthetics, surgical soft‑tissue repair, abdominal wall reconstruction, and wound care, as well as any other specialty area where allograft transplantation technologies can drive meaningful improvement.

We are not currently accepting grant applications. The next grant application cycle will open in January 2027. We are currently accepting Letters of Intent for the 2026 grant application cycle.

Non-MTF Biologics Administered Grants OREF Unrestricted Research Grant Since 2000, MTF Biologics has provided the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF) with an annual unrestricted research grant to aid an investigator in funding their orthopaedic research project. OREF administers the research grant.

Justyna_Herrera@mtf. org . --> International Institute For The Advancement of Medicine (IIAM) MTF Biologics subsidiary, IIAM, links humanity and medical discovery by providing donated human organs for research into cures and treatments for human diseases.

Visit IIAM for more information. External Research Program Tissue which does not meet suitability criteria for transplant is made available for academic research. Categories for rejection include microbial contamination, additional findings at autopsy or positive or conflicting serological test results.

Research projects are reviewed for scientific appropriateness and feasibility of design prior to inception. All researchers must complete and submit the External Research Application and a description of the research project. The researcher will be notified upon approval and shipment of tissues will commence.

Shipping charges will be paid by MTF Biologics for researchers at member institutions. Other researchers will be responsible for their own shipping charges. (Include Federal Express / UPS account number).
