Cancer Research | National Cancer Institute Kenya Advancing Cancer Research for a Healthier Kenya At NCI-Kenya, our mission is to advance the understanding, prevention, and treatment of cancer through rigorous research and innovation. Our research initiatives are designed to address the unique challenges faced by cancer patients in Kenya and to contribute to global cancer knowledge.

NCI-Kenya awards research grants to institutions across Kenya with the goal of strengthening cancer research capacity in the country. The funded projects are designed to produce high-quality, scalable, and impactful outcomes that inform public policy and contribute to reducing the burden of cancer.

The grant recipients awarded in 2023/2024 financial year include: View request for proposals High risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) and cervical abnormalities in women attending selected health facilities. Improve patient outcomes through targeted therapies. HPV Vaccination Impact Study This study assesses the long-term impact of HPV vaccination programs on cervical cancer rates in Kenya. We aim to provide data that supports the expansion of vaccination efforts and informs public health policies.

Measure the reduction in cervical cancer incidence due to HPV vaccination. Evaluate the cost-effectiveness of vaccination programs. Recommend strategies to increase vaccination coverage.
