Investing in early-stage companies with Georgia Tech-licensed intellectual property We invest in early stage companies. Our sweet spot for initial checks is Pre-seed or Seed, though we'll do Series A rounds as well. We follow on in our top companies through Series A or B.
We are generalist investors. We look at companies across industries (such as climate, robotics, AI, consumer, hard tech, SaaS) and business models (such as B2B, B2C, B2G). We are looking to invest in the best and brightest Georgia Tech founders that are building unique solutions to big problems.
Total Valuation of Portfolio Companies What is your check size range? Do you do follow-ons? We write checks of up to $450k.
Initial checks range from $50K to $250K and follow-on checks range from $50K to $450K. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis. What types of financings do you participate in?
We participate on all security types, including convertible notes, SAFEs and preferred equity rounds. At the moment we do not lead deals, so we rely on someone else coming in to price the round. Do you have ownership targets?
Currently, we do not have ownership targets. What does your diligence process look like? Our investment committee meets once a month.
We invite 2-3 companies to come and pitch each session. From there, we do our deep dive and make decisions on the timeline that aligns with your close date. Does my IP license need to be secured before investment?
Yes, the license needs to be in place prior to investment. You can, however, come in to pitch prior to having the license secured as long as it will be in place before an investment closes. If I participated in both Quadrant-i and a Create-X program, am I eligible for both the Research Impact and Create-X funds?
Yes, if you are a part of Quadrant-i, you are eligible for funding from the Research Impact Fund. If you completed Create-X Launch, you are also eligible for funding from the Create-X Seed Fund. If you completed any Create-X program (including Launch), you are further eligible for funding from the Tennenbaum Fund.
We currently have one company in our portfolio that has received investment from all three.
