ToolKit Georgia State’s Research Innovation and Scholarly Excellence challenge, or Project RISE, leverages the unique strengths of our research community to address complex problems through interdisciplinary collaboration. Starting in 2022, Project RISE delivered $2. 5 million in funding to researchers across the university to support transformative projects in four cross-cutting research hubs and four seed grant categories.
The projects were designed to bring together some of the top scholars in fields as diverse as astronomy, criminal justice, neuroscience, law and virology, along with key government agencies, private industry, foundations, nonprofits and philanthropic sponsors. The overall goal was to gain new knowledge that can deliver real-world impact. $29 M+ ADDITIONAL GRANT FUNDING APPROVED $42.
8 M+ ADDITIONAL GRANT FUNDING SUBMITTED AND PENDING APPROVAL Our $2. 5 million internal grant investment yielded more than 10 times that number in external funding , a total of $29 million and counting. Collaboration between university departments that had not previously worked together yielded novel research paths and insights.
The RISE program enhanced opportunities for graduate students and post doctoral students to gain experience and play a part in this collaborative research. By attracting new faculty and paving the way for new class offerings, the RISE program had a positive impact on undergraduate students . The 72 publications and 66 presentations given showcase the impact of our research to peers, collaborators and communities.
