The BMFTR funds research internships for young German scientists at the International Computer Science Institute (ICSI) Berkeley.

Global Minds Initiative Germany: Humboldt Foundation sponsorship opportunities The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) supports international researchers who would like to continue their careers in Germany.

The new Global Minds Initiative Germany builds on the prestigious programmes offered by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the German Research Foundation (DFG) as well as the opportunities for students and doctoral candidates provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The plans are currently based on the prospective BMFTR funding, which is the subject of ongoing budgetary discussions.

The President of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Robert Schlögl, welcomed the initiative as an opportunity for Germany as a research location and emphasizes: “Through our sponsorship portfolio we want to offer researchers at various career stages a temporary base here in Germany and boost long-term collaborative networks in science.

The stronger the networks we build between Germany and the rest of the world, the better our own performance will be, making the world we live in even more stable. It is to be hoped that the initiative will also drive global knowledge production. Areas such as health and climate research cannot wait.

We need to think in broader terms. And for that we need internationally connected research.
