Residential Energy Equity Grant Program is sponsored by Maryland Energy Administration (MEA). Supports energy efficiency and solar projects for low-to-moderate income households through non-profit organizations and local government entities.

Residential Energy Equity Accessibility Information Residential Energy Equity ​**The FY26 program is now CLOSED for applications** Program Description: The Maryland Energy Administration is pleased to announce funding for the Residential Energy Equity Program. This program combines the former Energy Efficiency Equity Program and Solar Energy Equity Program for the convenience of organizations serving residential buildings.

The Residential Energy Equity Program is open to non-profit organizations and local government entities and is designed to support energy efficiency and renewable energy projects that benefit Maryland residents experiencing low-to-moderate incomes. Funding is offered under two Areas of Interest (AOIs): AOI 1: Energy Efficiency Projects AOI 2: Solar Energy Projects Qualifying organizations and entities may apply for either or both AOIs.

Grants are awarded for energy efficiency and solar projects that generate significant reductions in residential energy usage and pass on the benefits to income-qualifying Maryland residents. 2026 FY26 MEA Resi Energy Equity Program Application rev3 (Applicants will need to download the excel spreadsheet and complete it) FY26 Non-Profit Organization Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form (if applicable) This form shall be used to disclose any closely-affiliated relationship that an applicant may have with a for-profit entity proposed to participate in a Program-funded activity.

Those interested in funding for public or community buildings should consider Local Government Energy Modernization (L-GEM) Grant Program or ​ Electrifying Community Buildings Program ​. Additional Relative Funding: Federal Funding: MEA is aware of the Inflation Reduction Act Rebate Programs , including the Home Efficiency Rebate Program and the Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate Program.

At the time of this FOA’s release, DOE guidance on how to co-fund projects has been provided by DOE; however, MEA has not finalized the program design and does not yet have program funding approved by DOE. MEA understands there is a high demand for these rebates; however, not all installations will have an option for retroactive payment.

​ Nonfederal Funding: The Maryland Energy Administration also offers the Affordable Electrification Outreach Program . The program is designed to help low- to moderate-income (LMI) households across Maryland who continue to experience disproportionately high energy burdens and rising utility costs.

The program supports nonprofit and community-based organizations in conducting outreach across the state to educate owners and tenants of single-family and multi-family dwellings on the benefits of building electrification, with an emphasis on how to pair electrification measures with energy efficienc y and renewable energy upgrades to maximize savings.

MEA is also offering a FY26 Residential and Commercial Energy Storage Grant Program . This is a non-competitive program that incentivizes installation of energy storage on residential property under the program’s Area of Interest 1 (AOI1). Baltimore Gas and Electric NOTE: A solar PV system that has already received funding from the Maryland Energy Administration’s Maryland Solar Access Program (“MSAP”) is not eligible for Renewable Energy Equity Program grant funding. ​ MEA will cancel a grantee reimbursement request for a home that has received MSAP funding. No exceptions will be made.
