Rob and Tammy Lipson Research Scholarship - FGS - UVic Rob and Tammy Lipson Research Scholarship One or more scholarships, of at least $2,000 and to a maximum of $4,000 each are awarded to academically outstanding undergraduate or graduate students in the Faculty of Science who have: An international research opportunity.
The opportunity needs to be a research collaboration between UVic and an international academic, industry or government research entity; Been recommended by their advisor and/or department chair; and Whose advisor and/or department chair and international collaborator have both committed funding to the student's research opportunity.
Documentation that itemizes the cost of the trip and verifies other levels of support, and b) A letter of support from the advisor and/or department chair.
Preference will be given to students, with first preference to undergraduates, who have demonstrated a commitment to knowledge translation through one of: A presentation at a departmental or research centre symposium or colloquium; Participation in a faculty/UVic wide presentation event, such as HonoursFest, IdeasFest or JCURA; or A presentation at an external conference.
Approval of the recipients will be made by the Senate Committee on Awards or the Faculty of Graduate Studies Graduate Awards Committee upon the recommendation of the Faculty of Science. The application forms are available from the Science Dean's Office and are to be submitted by April 30th.
The entire budget must not be allocated to one student and the amount of the award(s) should be around the same as the amount of funding that has been committed by the department chair and international collaborator. Normally, the minimum requirement for consideration is an A- average and any additional criteria that has been established by the donor.

Ongoing UVic graduate funding requires students to maintain a minimum level of academic standing and some ongoing maintenance.
