During a one-year stay in Germany, around 600 fellows gathered personal and professional experience and accumulated knowledge about Germany and Europe.

Meeting of the 37th Fellowship Cohort in Berlin In brief About the Project Since 1984, the Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship Program invited around 600 young mid-career professionals from the U.S. to spend a year in Germany. Through individually chosen work stays, they got the chance to familiarize with the political, economic, and cultural environment of the Federal Republic of Germany and the European Union.

The fellowship program aimed at advancing transatlantic relations by expanding the fellows’ professional competence and expertise, as well as their cultural horizon. Why did we do the project? The Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship Program was created to promote German-American and transatlantic relations.

Since its inception in 1984, the program has aimed to support leaders and multipliers who have actively promoted intercultural exchange between the U.S. and Germany in their professional careers. It included 37 cohorts with a total of approximately 600 participants. The overall goal of the program was to empower participants to act as ambassadors for Germany and to strengthen mutual understanding between nations.

The alumni were committed to promoting friendship and understanding between the U.S. and Germany, both professionally and personally. How did the project work? The fellowship program included a variety of activities such as language courses, seminars, and study trips.

At the heart of the program, however, were individually designed work placements in Germany that provided fellows with insights into politics, business, and culture. These stays not only provided practical experience, but also enabled the participants to make valuable contacts.
