Spitz Foundation awards grants to registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that support initiatives and programs serving Lackawanna County and Northeastern Pennsylvania residents. Spitz Foundation for three consecutive years, it must wait one full year (two grant cycles) before applying again. Spring 2025 Priority Areas Include: Breaking the Cycle of Poverty: Programs that aim to remove economic barriers, mitigate intergenerational poverty, and encourage independence in adults and children through access to safe, affordable housing, transportation, education, training, and other important issues.
Jewish Culture & Cemeteries: Programs/projects that support Jewish culture, heritage, community, and cemeteries. Once submitted, LOIs will be reviewed by a committee. If invited to submit a full application, applications will be due Saturday, May 31st, 2025, at 11:59 PM.
The Robert H. Spitz Foundation’s Spring 2025 grant cycle is the first of two planned grant cycles for 2025. The second grant cycle will take place in Fall 2025, and will accept requests in the focus areas of Veterans’ Affairs and Veteran-oriented Programs, Animal Welfare, and Environmental Programs.

Spitz Foundation, which has awarded more than $6 million in funding to support impactful work across the Lackawanna County region and Northeastern Pennsylvania since 2016. Established through the estate of Scranton native Robert H.
Spitz, the Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations focused on breaking the cycle of poverty, increasing access to affordable housing, transportation, and education, and promoting independence for adults and children. Additional priority areas include support for veterans, animal welfare, and Jewish culture and heritage.
