Important Update | Introducing RECF Robotics The RECF’s robotics programs for elementary school through college students includes 1. 1 million students in 70 countries. These engaging programs offer a direct response to workforce and industry needs with participants more likely to consider studying science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) beyond high school.
Beginning in 2022, Amazon and the Amazon Future Engineer program has worked with the RECF to bring computer science and STEM Education through Robotics Competitions to underserved Indigenous tribes across the United States. Since 2014, Chevron has partnered with the REC Foundation through providing support to the California State Championships allowing these events to be more affordable, closer, and impact more students.
Beginning in 2023, Eaton has invested in the Factory Automation Competition, Event Partner and Team Grants both Domestic and Internationally. General Dynamics IT supports the REC Foundation by providing returning team grants focused in Kentucky, Louisiana, New York, Texas, Missouri, Colorado, Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
Beginning in 2016, Google has become an essential partner through supporting robotics growth, drone team growth, and partnering with the RECF to create the Girl Powered Initiative and the Google Mentorship program.
Kettering University began their partnership with the RECF in 2021, hosting competitions, Event Partner Summits, and becoming a World Championship Sponsor For over a decade, NASA and the RECF have worked together promoting STEM interest and workforce connections by growing robotics competitions at the high school level while supporting professional development for coaches.
In 2022, Robolink began a joint effort with the RECF to support and sustain the Aerial Drone Competition through designing drones and educator resources. In 2018, Tesla partnered with the RECF to provide team support, Coach training, teacher stipends, and mentorship funding in Nevada, as well as continuing education credits through a one-of-a-kind externship program.
Beginning in 2013, TI has partnered with the RECF in sponsoring the World Championship, provided funding for Girl Powered Workshops at their Headquarters and funded team equipment grants for TX. 2025-2026 Signature Event Updates An Event Partner wanting to apply to host a Signature Event must have hosted events for at least 2 seasons prior to applying.
Signature Events must use the officially branded award banners for the Excellence Award and Tournament/Teamwork Champions Award. When hanging field skirts the VEX Robotics logo/brand name can not be covered up on the competition fields.
VEX V5 Robotics Competition Signature Events may have regional capacity and max per organization restrictions lifted 8 weeks before the event if the event is not full (similar to the process already in place for VEX IQ Robotics Competition Signature Events). Minimum pit size reduced to 8’x 8’ instead of 10’x10’.
Beginning in the 2025-2026 season, the REC Foundation will collect $10 instead of $5 per team registration on all Signature Events. This is to help offset travel costs for REC Foundation staff to support these larger events.

NSF 26-513 makes roughly $100 million available for up to 10 State and Regional AI Infrastructure Hubs at $4M to $12M each over five years. One award per state or multi-state region. One proposal per organization. And NSF is not buying you GPUs — it funds the coordination, the workforce and the faculty training, while the compute has to come from partners you have to already have.
