The Alamo AFCEA Scholarships and Grants program oversees the Alamo AFCEA Education Foundation (AAEF), a certified 501(c)3 Chapter-affiliated organization. AAEF is dedicated to promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines at all academic levels. The foundation aims to spark and nurture interest in STEM by providing resources to educators, institutions, and activities within the broader Chapter Regions.
Our focus is on creating opportunities for individuals who may not have initially considered a path in STEM academics and careers. AAEF gives priority to supporting rural, Title 1, and underrepresented schools. Our specific goal is to expose students to STEM career opportunities and broaden their perspectives on future possibilities.
AAEF achieves this by offering Classroom Teaching Tool grants directly to teachers, providing critical resources for STEM instruction in grades K-12. We actively support educators by funding STEM-related teaching certifications, investing in pre-service teacher internships, and collaborating with like-minded non-profits.
AAEF is deeply engaged with the South Texas education community, fostering open discussions, identifying gaps in STEM education, and tailoring solutions for all communities. AAEF is committed to supporting primary, secondary, postsecondary, and postgraduate education, including doctorate degrees.
Our goal is to establish connections between primary and secondary feeder schools, support postsecondary education, collaborate with industries for internships, engage with organizations supporting STEM-related certifications, and facilitate job placement opportunities. As San Antonio's STEM hub, AAEF is dedicated to developing San Antonians as the future workforce.
Please follow the links below to learn more about some of our amazing programs! #### STEM Teaching Tool Grants Educators are the gateway for STEM awareness in the classroom. Educators are charged with providing students with innovative ways to make learning fun and engaging.
This can be a challenge with cutbacks and limited funds. The Teaching Tool Grants provide additional funding for educators to purchase classroom STEM tools. AAEF requests the tools are durable and reusable.

The Ron Moore Memorial Grant provides the top top High School, top Middle School, and top Elementary School educators with grants for continued STEM learning, certification, or classroom use.
Please check back mid-January to apply. 2025 applications are closed. #### Academic Scholarships for College Students AAEF partners with the University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA); St.
Mary’s University; Our Lady of the Lake University; Texas A&M University at San Antonio (UTAMSA), the University of Incarnate Word (UIW), and Alamo Colleges District – Palo Alto College providing Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, etc Scholarships every year. Please contact the appropriate college for scholarship details. AAEF recognizes STEM evolves quickly as technology improves.
AAEF is flexible to meet the rapid technology changes for competition or new classroom tools. Educators may submit grants at any time through this link. The AAEF committee will address these “out of cycle” requests and work to approve requests based on the current budget.
