Academic Jewish Studies - Rothschild AJS grants will re-open in Autumn 2026 Academic Language Grants and Conference Funding and Small Research Grants are open at different times We provide funding to individual scholars and university departments to undertake innovative Jewish Studies research and train the next generation of scholars.
Our Academic Jewish Studies grants aim to develop rigorous, systematic research and education in Jewish studies throughout Europe whilst also prioritising the teaching and learning of Jewish languages. Support for doctoral fellowships in any area in the broad field of Jewish Studies. Support for institutions to employ a post-doctoral fellow in Jewish Studies.
Collaborative Fellowships in Jewish Heritage Support for universities and heritage institutions to jointly recruit a PhD student or Postdoctoral fellow to undertake research focused on the collections of the heritage institution. Departmental Initiative Grants Support for Jewish Studies Departments and Centres to launch new initiatives building on their existing strengths and increasing their impact.
Research Fellowships for Mid-Career Scholars Support for mid-career Jewish Studies scholars to apply for six to twelve months of funding to complete a significant research project.
