Route 66 Butterfly Gardens (grant application deadline) - Kerr Center Route 66 Butterfly Gardens (grant application deadline) July 31, 2025, is the deadline to apply for grants to plant butterfly gardens along historic Route 66. Keep Oklahoma Beautiful is partnering with Okies for Monarchs to plant butterfly gardens along the historic Mother Road through a grant program valued at approximately $1,500.
Each grant includes a 10’x10′ plot filled with native Oklahoma plants—such as butterflyweed, milkweed, purple coneflower, bee balm, and more—to attract and support local pollinators. Recipients receive plants and supplies like mulch and stakes, volunteer training, and a custom metal sign recognizing sponsors. The program also coordinates with local nurseries and suppliers to ensure community-focused support.
Grant recipients are responsible for recruiting volunteers, submitting a maintenance plan, securing a signed Permission to Plant Form, coordinating utility marking, picking up supplies, attending training, and submitting a brief event report.
