RTX Volunteer Grant Program – Nonprofit Guide RTX’s Volunteer Grant Program provides two resources that empower nonprofits and RTX employees to work together in their communities : funding and volunteers. Award amounts are based on the number of employee volunteers who pledge to serve at the receiving nonprofit throughout the year. The more volunteers pledged, the higher the award, as shown below. The application process is competitive and not all employee project proposals will be selected.

The grant requirement is set only to meet a specific number of employee volunteers . RTX employees may meet this requirement during the grant period via one group event or a combination of group events and individual volunteering . However, we hope that volunteer grants will establish a lasting relationship between employees and local nonprofits, leading to a steady cadence of volunteerism.

Why does RTX give grants with a volunteerism requirement ? The goal of the RTX volunteer grant program is to increase engagement in RTX employee communities and provide much -needed funding to nonprofits who are driving transformative, generational impact.

Our hope is to provide meaningful incentives for employees to get involved in local community programs while fostering long -term relationships with organizations that are serving the underserved and driving positive change. What does RTX consider as volunteering? Volunteerism is the practice of offering one's time and services to others or to causes without receiving financial compensation.

It involves individuals willingly participating in activities or tasks aimed at benefiting the community, a particular group, or the larger society and encompasses a wide range of activities , including... > Volunteer •Donating time and talent to nonprofits, schools, and organizations.

Volunteer grants are awarded biannually.

If chosen, nonprofits typically receive funding 30 -60 days after the grant cycle has concluded . What can nonprofits do to receive a volunteer grant? Since the volunteer grant application is completed by employees, the best action for a nonprofit to connection to RTX employee volunteers .

Nonprofit organizations may not apply for a volunteer grant, but an employee champion may apply on their behalf. Any organization receiving funding from RTX’s standard grant program is not eligible to receive a volunteer grant. If you are from a nonprofit and would like to be considered for an RTX standard grant, you may apply for a standard grant between June 1 and July 31 each year.

What do I do? In some cases, employees may choose to apply without coordinating with their chosen nonprofit on the grant application. This is allowed as employees typically have nine months to recruit the minimum number of employees to volunteer with your organization.

For nonprofit partners, you will receive the funding without needing to take action. If you are not selected to receive a standard or volunteer grant, talk to your RTX employee champion about creating fundraisers and giving opportunities on our internal giving platform, called Connect Up. If your organization is not already listed, the employee may nominate your organization for the RTX 1:1 matching gift.
