Rural Autonomous Vehicle (RAV) Research Program | ASCE's 2025 Infrastructure Report Card Rural Autonomous Vehicle (RAV) Research Program The Department of Transportation (DOT) on December 13th announced a $25 million funding opportunity associated with its new Rural Autonomous Vehicle (RAV) research program .
Recipients will use RAV program funding to research the benefits and application of automated vehicles and related technologies in rural and Tribal communities. One $15 million award will focus on passenger transportation and another $10 million award will center on freight movement. Accredited universities are eligible to apply for this six-year cooperative agreement program.
