Equipment Round 4 awards are tentatively scheduled for May 15, 2026.

Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program - Texas A&M Forest Service The Rural VFD Assistance Program provides funding to VFDs for the acquisition of firefighting vehicles, fire and rescue equipment, protective clothing, dry-hydrants, and firefighter training. The program also provides grants for volunteer recruitment resources and emergency assistance following catastrophic events and declared states of disaster.
Recognized, non-profit volunteer fire departments operated by its members are eligible. Any part-paid/part-volunteer fire department is also eligible if the number of paid members is 20 or fewer. The fire department must be a recognized fire department, located in and operating within a designated primary protection area as assigned by the county.
Primary protection areas cannot overlap. The fire department must be in good standing with the State of Texas and the agency. To receive grants utilizing federal funds, receiving departments must meet additional federal requirements .
Established by the 77 th Texas Legislature in 2001, the program has been successful in helping fire departments get the vehicles, training, and equipment they would otherwise not have had access to. Due to its usefulness to the fire service of Texas, the request volume far exceeds the program’s yearly funding. Therefore, while we would like to fund every request, it unfortunately takes some time to help every department in need.
Equipment Round 4 Awards (All Program Categories) – Tentatively Scheduled for 5/15/2026 Special Announcement – New Legislative Funding FY26 Program Updates and Changes 2025 TEEX Spring and Municipal Schools: Vouchers are no longer offered , due to a high percentage of non-attendance. Training tuition assistance for these schools can be requested via FireConnect .
Grants for meal cards and dorms are offered for Municipal School, and can be requested via FireConnect. California State Nonprofit Security Grant Program (CSNSGP) is a grant from the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services that funds target hardening and security enhancements for nonprofit organizations at high risk for violent attacks and hate crimes due to their ideology, beliefs, or mission. Awards of up to $200,000 per organization are available, with $76 million allocated in the latest funding round. Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations operating in California. Funded activities include physical security improvements and vulnerability assessments to protect against threats. The program requires applicants to complete a Vulnerability Assessment Worksheet as part of the application process. Support services applicants had an extended deadline of January 12, 2026. FY 2026 Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) – Mississippi is a grant from the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security (MOHS) that funds local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency operations agencies for homeland security preparedness. FEMA-provided funds can be used for equipment, training, exercises, and supplies to protect against terrorism and other threats. The FY26 application deadline is Friday, April 3, 2026, and applications are submitted via the MOHS JotForm portal. National priorities require allocating at least 10% toward border crisis response and 3% toward election security.
