Decker2@va. gov) The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 2, hereby provides notice of its intent to award a sole-source, firm-fixed-price contract, to Sunnking, Inc. The period of performance for this contract award will be August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027, with the provision of four (4) option years.
A Justification and Approval for Other Than Full and Open Competition will be prepared. This firm fixed price requirement is for pick-up, removal and transportation of scrap (turned-in) equipment from both our East Orange & Lyons New Jersey VAMC s, and recycle and/or dispose of the items of the items as required by state and federal law.
The locations are as follows: Lyons VAMC, 151 Knollcroft Road, Lyons, NJ 07939 East Orange VAMC, 385 Tremont Ave. , East Orange, NJ 07018 NAICS code: 562920, Materials Recovery Facilities. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES.
However, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement no later than July 15, 2026, at 10:00 am, EDT. A determination not to compete this requirement, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
The Department of Veterans Affairs will NOT be responsible for any costs incurred by interested parties in responding to this notice of intent. Only written responses will be considered. All responses from responsible sources will be fully considered.
As a result of analyzing responses to this notice of intent, the Government shall determine if a solicitation will be issued. Any prospective contractor must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) to be eligible for award. Interested parties are encouraged to furnish information by email only with RESPONSE TO INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE 36C24226Q0771 Media/Scrap Recycling in the subject line.

The Department of Defense FY2026 Defense University Research Instrumentation Program (DURIP) provides funding for U.S. universities to acquire research equipment and instrumentation in areas important to national defense, including AI and machine learning hardware. The program is administered jointly by the Army Research Office (ARO), Office of Naval Research (ONR), and Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), with approximately $34 million available and 95 awards anticipated. DURIP funds the acquisition of specialized computing hardware for AI/ML research (GPU clusters, TPUs, neuromorphic processors), robotics and autonomous systems testbeds, sensor arrays and data collection systems for machine learning training, high-performance computing infrastructure for defense-relevant AI research, and laboratory equipment for human-AI interaction studies. The program specifically supports equipment that enhances research-related education in DoD-priority disciplines. While general-purpose computing is not eligible, computing equipment directly supporting DoD-relevant AI research programs qualifies. No cost sharing is required.
Vinnova, Sweden's national innovation agency, funds projects developing applied AI solutions for Swedish industry through its Advanced Digitalization Programme. Each project can apply for between 2 and 10 million SEK (approximately $190,000 to $950,000 USD) covering up to 50% of eligible project costs. The total call budget is 60 million SEK. Projects run for 12-24 months and focus on two key areas: Intelligent Edge (AI for real-time application in the sensor chain) and AI-based decision support. All projects must address industrial needs and integrate gender equality and climate change perspectives. Scientific publications must be open access.
