Illinois Legislature has amended the School Safety Drill Act with Section 50 , allocating $16 million to the State Board of Education to establish a grant program to provide funding to schools to obtain crisis response mapping data. This data is to be provided to appropriate local, county, state, and federal first responders to be used while addressing emergencies on school grounds.

Illinois Section 50 Grant Funding Parameters StrataSite school crisis response mapping data meets and exceeds funding criteria for Section 50, which must, at a minimum: be compatible and integrate into security software platforms in use by the specific school for which the data is provided without requiring local law enforcement agencies or the school district to purchase additional software or requiring the integration of third-party software to view the data; be compatible with security software platforms in use by the specific school for which the data is provided without requiring local public safety agencies or the school district to purchase additional software or requiring the integration of third-party software to view the data; be capable of being provided in a printable format; be verified for accuracy by an on-site walk-through of the school building and grounds; be oriented to true north; be overlaid on current aerial imagery or plans of the school building; contain site-specific labeling that matches the structure of the school building, including room labels, hallway names, and external door or stairwell numbers and the location of hazards, critical utilities, key boxes, automated external defibrillators, and trauma kits, and that matches the school grounds, including parking areas, athletic fields, surrounding roads, and neighboring properties; and be overlaid with gridded x-y coordinates.
