Sara's Wish Scholarship Fund

Sara's Wish Scholarship Fund is sponsored by Sara's Wish Foundation. The Sara's Wish Foundation provides scholarships to American women who want to volunteer abroad to do humanitarian work, perpetuating the memory of Sara Christie Schewe. The foundation has helped women travel to various countries to develop life there.

Scholarships - Sara's Wish Foundation The Mission of the Scholarship Fund is to perpetuate Sara’s ideals by providing financial support for humanitarian work around the world for young women who share Sara’s zest for life, love of adventure, and zeal to excel. These young humanitarians have made a difference in 65 countries across every inhabited continent.

It is now time for Sara’s Wish Foundation to dedicate funding to sustaining and/or improving the work of some of our scholarship recipients, many of whom continue their work in medical, educational, or other humanitarian initiatives across the globe. Beginning in the fall of 2104, only previous scholarship recipients were eligible to apply for funding from Sara’s Wish Foundation.

One or two previous recipients received awards each year, with amounts ranging from $1000 to $10,000. These awards were given for sustained, substantial humanitarian work in the global community. [Note: As of January 2025, the Global Humanitarian Award is no longer being offered by Sara’s Wish Foundation.

Instead, we are focusing our scholarship funding on our new endowment established at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. This fund is earmarked for highly qualified UMass/Amherst students who wish to study abroad.]
