Founded in 1956 and reorganized in 1986 as a "community foundation," the Community Foundation is an umbrella philanthropic organization through which individuals, families, businesses and charities support the well being of our community and charitable and educational institutions throughout the USA.
The Community Foundation is a nonprofit Georgia corporation classified as a Section 501(c)(3) public charity by the IRS and invests in solutions to the area's civic, educational, health and human services, and charitable needs as suggested by it donors and determined by its Board of Directors.
Typically, the Community Foundation grants over $7,250,000 to more than 250 charitable organizations and awards over $200,000 in scholarships each year. The Savannah Community Foundation, Inc.
