Helping Sea Turtles Survive – Florida Sea Turtle Specialty License Plate Grants Program Helping Sea Turtles Survive Helping Sea Turtles Survive Applications for 2027 – 2028 Funding Cycle Being Accepted The non-profit Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC) announced today that it will begin accepting applications for the Sea Turtle Grants Program through 5:00 pm, Friday, November 6, 2026 , for the 2027 – 2028 grant cycle.
Application forms and general information about the program may be obtained from the Sea Turtle Plate Grants Program website. Please note that a copy of your NMFS Permit, if applicable, should only be submitted through the online form. Do not include a printed copy with your mailed in applications .

About the Sea Turtle License Plate Funded by a portion of revenues from Florida’s Sea Turtle Specialty License Plate, the Sea Turtle Grants Program distributes funds each year to support sea turtle research, conservation and education programs that benefit Florida sea turtles.
Thanks to the efforts of the non-profit Sea Turtle Conservancy and other Florida sea turtle groups, in 1997, the Florida Legislature (Statute 320. 08058 (19)) authorized the creation of a Sea Turtle Specialty License Plate to promote the conservation and protection of Florida’s sea turtles through providing a permanent funding source for the state’s Marine Turtle Protection Program.
