The Second Chance Act (SCA) supports state, local, and tribal governments and nonprofit organizations to reduce recidivism and improve outcomes for people returning to their communities from state and federal prisons, local jails, and juvenile facilities.
This includes program planning, adult reentry and employment programs, screening for adults with co-occurring mental illnesses and substance use disorders, community-based mentoring and transitional services for adults, family-based substance use treatment, and juvenile reentry initiatives.
