Section for Global Health Grant Program is sponsored by NYU Langone Health. The Section for Global Health at NYU Langone is seeking pilot grant proposals that support research into developing, evaluating, and expanding strategies to prevent and treat illness and enhance wellbeing in low-resource settings.

Applicants are encouraged to align their pilot project proposals with one or more of six focal areas: connection, location, resilience, creation, delivery, and structure. Applicants must demonstrate the potential for future NIH or other competitive extramural funding based on their pilot project.

Applicants are encouraged to align their pilot project proposals with one or more of our six focal areas: connection: network analysis, systems analysis location: spatial analytics, vectors/zoonoses resilience: resilience analytics, asset-based interventions creation: design and design thinking, global engineering delivery: implementation research, delivery science structure: policy, social determinants of health, planetary health, ethics Applicants must demonstrate the potential for future National Institutes of Health (NIH) or other competitive extramural funding based on their pilot project.

We anticipate funding one award of $10,000 for a duration of one year. Grants funds should be applied toward research-related costs.

We anticipate and support funding of research costs (including in countries other than the United States) for the following expenditures: salary for support personnel, such as an analyst or research assistant (salary support for the principal investigator, or PI, is not provided) supplies and other costs related to research such as travel Indirect costs will not be provided.

Funds for equipment purchase are generally excluded except through significant justification. Eligible applicants include junior faculty at the assistant professor level, fellows, residents, and postdocs employed across NYU Langone and NYU.

Applications consist of the following components: the PI’s NIH-style biographical sketch—maximum five pages a list of all co-investigators, including full name, degree, institution, and department a research grant proposal, maximum three pages, which should include sections describing background and project significance, innovation, and research design and strategy a budget (see details above), including budget justification Proposal documents should be formatted according to the NIH format attachment guidelines particularly the recommended fonts (Arial, etc.) and sizing (11 points or larger), single spaced, and margins (at least one-half inch).

All applicants must submit an application through REDCap by March 14, 2023, at 5:00PM ET. We evaluate proposals based on the quality of the proposed scientific investigation, the significance of the proposed research, innovation, the potential of the proposal to lead to future successful extramural grant applications, and the quality and promise of the applicant. The anticipated funding start date is July 1, 2023.
