Seed-And-Scale Match Fund | The Alliance for Health Equity A Multi-Year Funding Initiative The Seed-And-Scale Match Fund is a signature funding initiative of The Alliance for Health Equity (AHE) that supports community-based organizations working to address key social determinants of health in Greater Coatesville.

Seed-And-Scale is designed to help organizations launch new ideas, strengthen existing programs, and scale solutions rooted in community need and lived experience. (July 1, 2026 – December 31, 2027) Award amounts range from $10,000 to $50,000 , depending on project scope, readiness, and anticipated impact.

The Alliance for Health Equity (AHE) is pleased to announce the new cycle of the Seed-And-Scale Grant Program for the year 2026-2027. This initiative focuses on supporting local community organizations advancing health and well-being across the Greater Coatesville Area.

The Seed-And-Scale Match Fund supports both emerging initiatives and established models that reduce systemic barriers, expand access to essential resources, and strengthen pathways to long-term community impact.

Focus on Social Determinents of Health (SDoH) Healthcare Access and Quality Education Access and Quality Neighborhood and Built Environment Social and Community Context Access to affordable, culturally responsive healthcare services including physical, behavioral, and preventive care that support wellness across the lifespan.

Access to high-quality learning environments, academic support, and enrichment opportunities which enable children and youth to thrive. Safe, stable physical environments including housing and food access that support healthy living and community stability. Strong relationships, supportive networks, and community engagement that foster belonging, resilience, and collective well-being.

Stable income, employment pathways, and financial security that enable individuals and families to meet basic needs and build long-term mobility. Most Recent Funding Cycle (July 1, 2024 – December 31, 2025) The most recent Seed-And-Scale funding cycle ran from July 1, 2024 through December 31, 2025 .

During this period, AHE distributed a total of $870,000 through a combination of initial grants, donor contributions, and matching funds to 17 Coatesville based nonprofit organizations who focused their programs on health, mental health, education, employment, housing, and/or food security. The outcomes and lessons learned from this funding cycle continue to inform AHE’s approach to community investment.

Past Philanthropic Focus Areas and Awardees Health access refers to the equitable provision of healthcare services, ensuring that every individual, regardless of income, location, race, gender, or other social factors, can obtain timely, appropriate, and affordable care without facing unnecessary obstacles.

The Alliance for Health Equity awarded an initial grant of $60,000 to three local organizations, Maternal and Child Health Consortium (MCHC), Mitzvah Circle and Family Services of Chester County . This funding came with a unique opportunity: each organization could unlock a dollar-for-dollar match up to the amount of their original grant, based on the funds they independently raised.

Each organization ended up successfully securing matching contributions. This innovative structure transformed the original $60,000 investment into a total of $180,000 in community benefit. Mental health access means creating a system where individuals can easily obtain the support and treatment they need, free from stigma, financial hardship, or logistical obstacles, to maintain emotional and psychological well-being.

It involves fostering inclusive environments, expanding availability of services, and promoting awareness so that everyone can thrive, cope with life challenges, and engage meaningfully in their personal, social, and professional lives. The Alliance for Health Equity awarded an initial grant of $60,000 to four grantees specifically focused on mental health.

These organizations are: The Bridge Academy, CYWA, Max’s Kicks for Kids, and THE POINT. The grantees delivered trauma-informed, culturally responsive programming that addressed emotional wellbeing, resilience, and healing across youth, families, and vulnerable populations. Each organization ended up successfully securing matching contributions.

This innovative structure transformed the original $60,000 investment into a total of $180,000 in community benefit.

This tripled impact enabled these organizations to expand their reach, deepen their services, and deliver critical resources to vulnerable populations across Greater Coatesville Area. AHE’s approach not only provided immediate support but also empowered local partners to build sustainable fundraising momentum.

Education Access refers to the availability of high-quality learning environments, enrichment opportunities, and academic support systems that enable children and youth to thrive. In Greater Coatesville, educational equity is deeply tied to long-term wellbeing, economic mobility, and community resilience.

The Alliance for Health Equity awarded $45,000 in Seed & Scale grants to two partners advancing educational opportunity: the Coatesville Area Public Library (CAPL) and the Educational Equity Alliance (Coatesville Kids to College) .

Through the match fund structure, both organizations leveraged additional dollars to expand literacy programs, strengthen early childhood and K–12 supports, and create safe, engaging learning spaces for children and teens. Together, these investments reached thousands of children and families, strengthened school partnerships, and expanded access to literacy, enrichment, and academic support across the Coatesville Area School District.

Each organization ended up successfully securing matching contributions. This innovative structure transformed the original $45,000 investment into a total of $135,000 in community benefit.

AHE’s approach not only provided immediate support but also empowered local partners to build sustainable fundraising momentum. Employment access refers to the ability of individuals to secure stable, livable-wage work that supports long-term economic mobility.

This includes not only job placement, but also the wraparound supports including transportation, mental health, skill-building, and safe learning environments, that make employment possible and sustainable. The Alliance for Health Equity awarded an initial $70,000 in Seed-And-Scale grants to three local organizations: Chester County OIC (CCOIC), Coatesville Youth Initiative (CYI), and Open Hearth.

Each organization had the opportunity to unlock a dollar-for-dollar match up to the amount of their original grant.

These investments in our community strengthened employment pathways, expanded youth workforce development, and removed critical barriers such as transportation and infrastructure limitations.

AHE’s approach not only provided immediate support but also empowered local partners to build sustainable fundraising momentum. Food security refers to consistent access to nutritious, affordable food that supports health, dignity, and overall wellbeing. In Greater Coatesville, food access is deeply connected to economic stability, chronic disease prevention, and the ability of families, especially seniors and youth, to thrive.

The Alliance for Health Equity awarded $15,000 in Seed & Scale grants to two local partners: Meals on Wheels of Chester County (MOWCC) and the Believe and Achieve Foundation (B&A) . Through the match fund structure, both organizations leveraged additional dollars to expand food access, strengthen community partnerships, and deliver fresh, nutritious meals to seniors, students, and families across the region.

Together, these investments supported homebound seniors, schoolaged youth, and families experiencing food insecurity, ensuring that nutritious meals reached those who needed them most.

Housing or in our case ‘Housing Stability’ refers to the ability of individuals and families to secure and maintain safe, affordable, and consistent housing. We believe this is a foundational determinant of health, economic mobility, and family wellbeing.

In Greater Coatesville, rising rents, limited affordable units, and multigenerational poverty create persistent barriers for single parents, seniors, and families at risk of homelessness. The Alliance for Health Equity awarded $50,000 in Seed & Scale grants to three partners advancing housing stability: North Star of Chester County , Home of the Sparrow , and Friends Association .

Through the match fund structure, these organizations leveraged additional dollars to prevent homelessness, provided rental assistance, delivered life skills training, and support families navigating crises. Together, these investments stabilized households, prevented evictions, and strengthened long-term pathways toward independence and selfsufficiency.

Launched in 2024 as part of AHE’s Trust-Based Philanthropy process, the Seed-And-Scale Match Fund provides two-year funding to 18 nonprofit organizations serving the Coatesville Area School District. The Seed-And-Scale Match Fund is designed to empower projects and programs that address crucial issues such as health, mental health, education, employment, and housing.

We seek initiatives with the potential to grow, reach a broader audience, and significantly enhance the well-being of our community. By expanding their scope and impact, these organizations will help drive lasting positive change in the Coatesville area. AHE is dedicated to equipping all Seed-And-Scale recipients with the tools they need to successfully advance the health and wellbeing of the Greater Coatesville community.
