Senior Rehabilitation Program (SRP) is sponsored by City of Albany Community Development Agency (ACDA). SRP provides substantial repairs to housing units owned by persons 62 years of age or older to eliminate conditions that pose a threat to the health, safety, and welfare of their occupants. Grants are available for emergency repairs.

Homeowner Assistance Program (HOAP) HOAP provides financial assistance to owner-occupied homeowners anywhere in the City of Albany who are in need of certain home repairs, such as new windows, doors, a roof, or furnace.

Lead-Based Paint Hazard Control Program The purpose of this program is to identify and control LEAD-based paint hazards in homes and rental units at no cost to homeowners or landlords. It covers a home or rental property in the City of Albany that houses pregnant women or where children under the age of 6 live or spend a significant amount of time.

If you qualify, the program includes lead testing and making your home lead-safe up to $20,000 per unit. For information on how to apply, contact ACDA at 518-434-5265. For income and other eligibility requirements.

Lead-Safe Program Guidelines (PDF) Lead-Safe Program Application (PDF) New York State Leading in Lead Prevention Pilot Program The Leading in Lead Program aims to identify and remediate lead-based paint hazards in rental units at no cost to landlords. It applies to multi-unit rental properties built before 1980 within select communities of concern across the City of Albany.

NYS Leading in Lead Prevention Pilot Program Guidelines (PDF) NYS Leading in Lead Prevention Pilot Program Application (PDF) Rehabilitation Assistance Program (RAP) RAP provides substantial emergency repair to owner-occupied housing units in order to eliminate conditions that pose a threat to the health, safety and welfare of their occupants. Grants of up to $5,000 are available to address emergency repairs.

Tenant Assistance Rehabilitation Program (TARP) TARP provides financial assistance to owners of rental properties for the purpose of rehabilitation of vacant and occupied rental units that will serve low-income households at rents affordable to this population.

The Choose Albany program officers 5% of the purchase price no more than $8,500 to go toward down payment and some closing costs for qualified buyers purchasing a home in the City of Albany. The Choose Albany program has no income restrictions, and will serve to boost homeownership rates in the City and help long-term renters make the transition into owning their own home.
