Sharing Grant

Sharing Grant is sponsored by Nicor Gas (administered by The Salvation Army). Nicor Gas offers Sharing Grants through the Salvation Army for eligible customers, including veterans, facing crisis situations. These grants can assist with utility payments.

Applicants must meet income guidelines.

Paying your bill just got easier! Now accepting all major credit cards! Nicor Gas Sharing Program One-time annual grants are given, with no requirement to be paid back, to qualified residential customers who meet the required income guidelines.

The Nicor Gas Sharing Program is administered by the Salvation Army and funded through direct contributions from Nicor Gas' customers and employees. Customers who receive Sharing Program benefits are automatically enrolled into the Nicor Gas Low-Income Discount Program Eligibility and How to Apply Eligible customers can receive a Sharing Grant up to $400 based on the overall account balance on the account.

Customers must meet income guidelines of 61% to 80% SMI. Minimum grant amount is $150. A good faith payment is not required The MobileX Connect Sharing Grant The MobileX Connect Sharing Grant provides bill payment assistance to eligible Nicor Gas customers. Customers can apply onsite during a MobileX Connect event or complete an online self‑certification form, which will be available for three days following each event. Event dates are posted during the week the event occurs.

Approved customers regardless of age may receive a single grant ranging from $150 to $400 per program year based on the overall account balance. If the balance is less than $150, the grant amount will still be $150. Veterans are eligible for grants up to $150 if they receive LIHEAP, PIPP or Sharing grants.

Seniors aged 65 and older can receive grants of up to $150 per year. Customers who benefit from Sharing grants are automatically enrolled in the Nicor Gas Low-Income Discount Program. How does the Sharing Grant work?

If you meet the criteria and your completed application is approved, you may receive a grant of up to $400. The grant will automatically be applied to your account within 30-60 days. I don't have any money to contribute to paying down my balance.

Can I still receive a Sharing grant? Yes. If you meet the eligibility guidelines and your completed application is approved, you may receive a grant of up to $400.

Can you help me calculate exactly how much I could receive from a Sharing grant? Unfortunately, no. The Salvation Army administers the Sharing Program, and they will be able to assist you. The Salvation Army administers the Sharing Program and determines if you are eligible.

However, you must: Be a residential heating customer of Nicor Gas with a payment due. Be ineligible for state or federal energy assistance programs. Have an annual gross income of 201% but not exceeding 300% of the federal poverty level.

Can I apply for more than one Sharing grant, or can my spouse also apply? No, only one Sharing grant is awarded per qualifying family. You can apply for a Sharing grant once per program year.
