Nearly a quarter of Prince Georgians are immigrants who have chosen to make Prince George’s County an integral part of their ‘American Dream’ to become parents, teachers, aspiring entrepreneurs, and future community leaders. As a community, Prince George’s County balances opportunities and challenges as it continues to grow and evolve.
The most recent VoicesDMV Community Insights Report found that many Prince Georgian’s suffer from food insecurity and limited access to capital, job opportunities, and childcare. However, it also found tremendous community strength and optimism around the potential that residents see for their community.
For more than 25 years, The Community Foundation has served as a critical link between caring donors, committed nonprofits, dedicated government and business partners, and local communities where potential too often exceeds resources. As a community, we build networks to support nonprofits through our Sharing Prince George’s Fund .

Current Prince George’s County Initiatives & Programs We are proud to oversee the following initiatives and programs in Prince George’s County: Thrive Prince George’s is a two-year, $4 million guaranteed-income pilot that seeks to provide greater economic stability and mobility for families in Prince George’s County.
The program, the first of its kind in the county, provides monthly payments of $800 to 50 youth (age 18-24) who have aged out of foster care and 125+ seniors (age 60+) for a 24-month period with no strings attached and no requirements tied to employment.
Brilliant Futures is a children’s savings pilot program that will provide kindergarten students at two schools with up to $1,000 in savings each year from kindergarten through 12th grade.
The Community Foundation has partnered with Montgomery County Public Schools and Prince George’s County Public Schools to launch the pilot program at Jackson Road Elementary School in the White Oak neighborhood of Silver Spring, MD in Montgomery County and Bradbury Heights Elementary School in Capitol Heights, MD in Prince George’s County.
The Community Foundation has committed to funding the pilot program for two consecutive kindergarten cohorts at each school — specifically the future graduating classes of 2036 and 2037 at Jackson Road Elementary School and classes of 2037 and 2038 at Bradbury Heights Elementary School. The pilot program is expected to enroll up to 400 students between the two schools.
Sharing Prince George's brings together donors who share our passion for building a more equitable, just, and thriving Prince George’s County. With expert facilitation by Community Foundation staff, donors join together to learn first-hand about the challenges facing our community.

Prince George's County Small Business Support Program The Small Business Support Program provides grants and technical assistance to small businesses operating along the Blue and Purple Line corridors providing greater opportunities to harness the economic benefits of development in the area.
Made possible through funding from the PNC Foundation, the program was designed in conjunction with several leading business groups in the county, including LISC, Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce, Purple Line Coalition, Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation, FSC First and Bowie BIC to support the growth and sustainability of small businesses as key employers and economic drivers in the county.
