Shelby County Health Foundation | Myrtue Medical Center About Us Shelby County Health Foundation Shelby County Health Foundation The Shelby County Health Foundation was formed in 1984 and recognizes that healthcare is a vital component of a community’s quality of life.
The Health Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to serving the healthcare needs of our local communities by supporting Myrtue Medical Center and its cooperating organizations.
By cultivating private donations and educating the public, the Shelby County Health Foundation contributes to Myrtue Medical Center's ongoing success by supporting improvement projects, equipment, and programs that benefit patients and the community. The Health Foundation is governed by a dedicated, nine-member Board of Directors, selected from our local communities.
The Board is diligent in its duty to provide charitable stewardship for gifts to the Health Foundation. The Directors develop investment strategies and policies for the Foundation and ensure that donor designations are upheld.
When you give to the Shelby County Health Foundation, you help fund real projects that improve patient care, enhance staff training, and support Recent Foundation-Funded Projects Education scholarships for individuals pursuing education in the healthcare field 3D Mammography and digital equipment for the Diagnostic Imaging department Remodel of the outpatient department for the specialty clinics and surgery area Ophthalmic equipment for procedures such as cataract surgery Renovation of the Harlan Rural Health Clinic building into an outpatient Arthroscopy equipment for the surgery department Addition of an education center Wheelchairs for nursing homes AED equipment for area ambulance services, ambulance vehicles, and the construction of an ambulance garage Remodel of the OB department There are many ways to financially support the Health Foundation.
An annual fund drive is held in December of each year, soliciting donations from the citizens of our county and the surrounding area. The Health Foundation’s Annual Report is distributed at this time to inform the community of the Thousands of dollars are given each year in memory of loved ones.
