Shore Scripts Short Film Fund - Finishing Grant is sponsored by Shore Scripts. This program offers a finishing grant for narrative shorts in all genres to help complete a film. Filmmakers will own their work in perpetuity, but Shore Scripts will be listed as an executive producer in the finished credits.

Many of the 26 films we have produced have gone on to play at hundreds of film festivals, including Sundance, Tribeca, Cannes, BFI London, Austin, Palm Springs, Encounters, and have won a BAFTA and other major awards.

FINISHING FUNDS - $4,000 CASH Already filmed your short film but looking for financial support to complete it? Our Finishing Funds offers a $4,000 cash grant to help finish your film. Our Short Film Fund provides an opportunity for emerging writers, directors and producers from around the world to receive much-needed financial support to get their work produced and seen.

We accept narrative short films (live-action & animation), web series pilots, and proof-of-concept shorts for TV series and features. Many of our alumni have gone on to gain representation, sell their screenplays, get staffed on Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, & BBC shows, and develop their shorts into features and TV shows.

Twice Oscar-nominated producer Maria Gracia Turgeon will mentor our Grand Prize and Finishing Funds winners, whilst Tribeca short film programmer Kimberley Browning will work with both winners on their film festival strategy. We have been partnered with ARRI Rental since 2017. They support our Film Fund winners with FREE camera equipment for the duration of the shoot.

Alex was the Fall 2022 2nd Place Winner with THIRSTYGIRL which went on to be an Official Selection at Sundance 2024 and won the inaugural Shorts to Features Honor at Gotham Week. The feature of the same name is now being produced by Asher Goldstein ( American Born Chinese, Just Mercy ), Carlos López Estrada ( Didi ), and Valerie Bush ( Didi ). Sam Baron won our 2017 Short Film Fund with THE ORGY.

Starring Amit Shah and following a successful festival run, Sam was approached by producers to develop the short into a TV series with Sony Pictures. He went on to write for Chloe (BBC), Lockwood & Co (Netflix) and The Undertow (Netflix) and has written feature scripts for directors James Marsh, Scott Z. Burns and Alice Seabright.

Claire Fowler won our inaugural Short Film Fund with SALAM which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, won a BAFTA Cymru award, and screened at over 100 international film festivals. She attended the 2024 Sundance Screenwriters & Directors Labs with her feature screenplay TOAD, and made her TV episodic directing debut on the show Manifest (WB/Netflix). Nora won our 2018 Short Film Fund with BEST SELLER.

She went on to direct an episode of The Goldbergs (ABC), write ten episodes of Daisy Jones and the Six (Amazon), and made her feature film directing debut with A TREE FELL IN THE WOODS. Her retirement home comedy, ASSISTED LIVING, was bought by CBS Studios and developed with Gloria Sanchez Productions.

Anthony was a 2020 Short Film Fund winner with TWO BEARS, which premiered at Palm Springs Int’l ShortsFest where it was nominated for Best Short Film. Anthony went on to write for the TV shows Deputy (Fox), Dark Winds (AMC), and Power Book IV: Force (Starz). Lindiwe was a 2020 Short Film Fund winner with THE TOWN and was accepted into the Sundance Ignite Fellowship with the film.

She is now developing new projects with Sundance. “This isn’t something that I would have believed to be possible and it was entirely enabled by the Short Film Fund. ” James won our 2019 Short Film Fund winner with CHAMP.

Shore Scripts connected James with Emmy-winning director, Ben Tricklebank, who came on board to direct the film. CHAMP went on to earn a nomination for the Judges’ 6 Best Film at Exit 6 Film Festival. Brea placed as a Top 5 Finalist in the Spring 2023 Short Film Fund with DEFINITELY NOT A MONSTER and went on to sign with Cinterra Entertainment.

The film was nominated for a NAACP Image Award in 2025. “I’ll always be grateful for Shore Scripts’ vote of confidence and would definitely recommend their programs to my fellow writers. ” Kimberley is a Short Film Programmer at the Tribeca Festival and the Program Advisor for Tribeca’s AT&T UNTOLD STORIES feature film grant program.

Her recent production credits include UPROOTED (HBO MAX) and BEING MICHELLE. She is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Short Film and Animation branch. Farah is an Oscar-nominated and BAFTA-winning Palestinian-British filmmaker.

Farah’s directorial debut THE PRESENT (2020), distributed on Canal+ and Netflix Worldwide, won over 50 Film Festival Jury & Audience Awards, a BAFTA Award, and an Oscar nomination. Her feature directorial debut, THE TEACHER, premiered at TIFF 2023. Farah is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Corin Taylor is an Executive Producer at Blink Productions. A graduate of the London Film School, Corin has produced internationally recognized commercials with Blink, which have gone on to win awards at the British Arrows, Cannes Lions and Ciclope. Corin is currently building a slate of long-form projects which includes a film with renowned director Ira Sachs, now in post-production.

Amir Ovadia Steklov is a Berlin-based Israeli filmmaker. He graduated from Sam-Spiegel Film School in 2013 and has worked as an independent film editor and animator since. He is also part of a growing movement of queer activists-filmmakers in Berlin.

Amir is best known for his award-winning films DON’T BE A DICK and BI THE WAY, and is a member of the European Film Academy. Libby Peterson is the Head of Development at Caviar, the production company whose critically acclaimed, award-winning films include SOUND OF METAL, WAR PONY and THE RIDER.

Libby is responsible for sourcing, curating, and managing a diverse slate of film and television projects that usher in fresh stories from exciting filmmakers.

Emilio is a Mexican-American film director whose directorial debut short film, at 16, HONEYBEE won the Grand Jury Award for Texas High School Shorts at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival and the Golden Gate Award for the Youthworks category Academy-Award Qualifying San Francisco Int’l Film Festival. He co-founded the arthouse independent film production company, Goretti Pictures LLC. Oliver Shuster is a screenwriter based in London.

He has written and co-written feature and short screenplays including WHAT’S UP WITH FRED? , THE PLACE BEHIND HER EYES (winner NYU’s Purple List), AAMIR (BAFTA-nominated), and TRUTH SERUM, as well as the upcoming ‘WHAT THE F@T and THE REUNION. He co-founded AnfanTerrible Productions with Vika Evdokimenko.

Elena is an award-winning screenwriter known for co-writing A LOVE STORY which won the BAFTA for British Short Animation, the Japan Media Arts Festival Excellence Award, and the Cilect Student Animation award. Her first feature, HITCHHIKERS, in development with Bridgeway Films, is due to shoot later this year. Jones is the filmmaking project of Michael Woodward and Max Barron.

Their film and advertising work has received numerous awards and nominations, including European Young Director of the Year at Cannes, a CICAE Art Cinema Award, Edinburgh’s Michael Powell Award, and a BIFA. Their satirical short film THREE MEETINGS OF THE EXTRAORDINARY COMMITTEE, was nominated for a BAFTA in 2022.
