Silver Lake Rowing Club Legacy Fund is sponsored by Norfolk Community Foundation. Supports sport, recreation, and youth development in Norfolk County, ensuring the values of discipline, teamwork, and community continue to benefit future generations.

The Silver Lake Rowing Club Fund – Norfolk Commuity Foundation The Silver Lake Rowing Club Fund For over 10 years, the Silver Lake Rowing Club offered recreational and competitive rowing programs on Silver Lake in Port Dover to elementary and high school students as well as to adults. At its peak, the club boasted approximately 200 members.

Major fundraising was conducted in partnership with local organizations including the Heart and Stroke Foundation as well as the Norfolk General Hospital Foundation. High-performance high school athletes competed and won gold, silver and bronze medals at the provincial and national level as well as the United States. Some represented Canada at the international level.

A select few were awarded scholarships in the United States and Canada. The Club’ s commitment to excellence was recognized by Row Ontario in 2005 when it was named Ontario’s Rowing Club of the Year – a testament to the dedication of its athletes, coaches, and volunteers.

The Silver Lake Rowing Club Legacy Fund, held at Norfolk Community Foundation, was established to assist with the development of sport and recreation in Norfolk County to promote the values the club embodied – discipline, teamwork, and community partnership.

Grants from this fund are available to Norfolk County residents, or not for profit sport organizations based in Norfolk County, who are members of a recognized Provincial Sport Organization as well as not for profit community groups providing recreational programming or facilities serving youth in Norfolk County.
