USDA Grant Available to Help Rebuild California’s Rural Communities | Cal OES News USDA Grant Available to Help Rebuild California’s Rural Communities A new federal grant program is now available to help rural communities affected by disasters to rebuild and recover. Cal OES partnered with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to help Californians access Single Family Housing Rural Disaster Home Repair grants and loans .
Because education is a key component of the recovery process, Cal OES hosted multiple webinars to provide direct outreach and share important information about the available funds and how to apply for them. You may apply for the Single Family Housing Rural Disaster Home Repair Grant and Loan program year-round, as long as funding is available.
This pilot program runs until July 18, 2025, and covers Presidentially Declared Disasters within that timeframe. The maximum grant amount is $40,675 and the maximum loan amount is $40,000. The funding can be used for disaster-related home repair expenses and can be applied to costs incurred for repairs made before receiving a grant.
You can also use funding for site preparation or to help cover the cost to move to a manufactured home. You must be the homeowner and able to occupy the house within 12 months. You must have an adjusted household income that falls within the very-low and low-income limit.
The damage to your home must be a result of a Presidentially Declared Disaster that occurred on or after July 18, 2022.
Residents living in rural areas of the following counties may be eligible for funding : Alameda, Alpine, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, Colusa, Contra Costa, Del Norte, El Dorado, Fresno, Glenn, Humboldt, Inyo, Los Angeles, Madera, Marin, Mariposa, Mendocino, Merced, Monterey, Napa, Nevada, Placer, Riverside, Sacramento, San Benito, San Diego, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, San Mateo, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Siskiyou, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity, Tulare, Tuolumne, Ventura and Yolo.
