Skills for Success Program is sponsored by Government of Canada. The Skills for Success program focuses on foundational workplace skills such as communication, digital skills, problem-solving, and adaptability.

Skills for Success - Canada. ca About the Skills for Success Program The Skills for Success (SFS) Program helps Canadians improve their foundational and transferable skills to prepare for, get and keep a job, and succeed at work. Employers are looking for people that have these skills – they are needed in every job.

The SFS Program helps employers find people with these skills and upskill their existing workforce. It also raises the awareness of Canadians, training providers, employers, and others about the importance of these skills. The Skills for Success Program at Employment and Social Development Canada focuses on improving people’s skills for work, and the SFS Model can also be applied to people’s lives at home, school, and in their communities.

The SFS Program provides funding to training, education and employment organizations; provinces and territories to: design and deliver foundational and transferable skills training to individuals develop assessment and training tools related to the Skills for Success Model; and develop innovative approaches and conduct research to support skills development of adults, with a focus on underrepresented groups in the workplace Partners and stakeholders The SFS Program does not provide funding or direct training to individuals for skills training courses or programs.

Instead, the program works with stakeholders such as provinces, territories, employers, and training practitioners to support training delivery. Can I get funding from the Skills for Success program to take training? The Skills for Success (SFS) Program does not provide funding for individuals to participate in skills training courses or programs.

If you are receiving or are applying for Employment Insurance (EI) , you may want to check out the Employment Insurance (EI) and courses or training programs website to see if any federal government funding is available and the steps to take to ensure you are eligible for the training that you are interested in. Provinces, territories and organizations (non-profit and for-profit) deliver skills training in Canada.

When you determine which training you are interested in and who provides it, you can check with the provider to see if you meet their requirements. The Employment Insurance (EI) and courses or training programs website provides links to all provincial and territorial websites related to employment programs. There are some training and assessment tools available through this SFS website that you may be interested in.

How do we apply? The Skills for Success (SFS) Program is a grants and contributions program. Occasionally, the SFS program holds a Call for Proposals, during which project proposals can be submitted by organizations, and provincial and territorial governments.
