Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program is sponsored by Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate (DHS S&T). The DHS SBIR Program provides funding to small businesses for concepts and prototypes that address specific homeland security needs. It encourages U.S. small businesses to conduct research and development (R&D) for homeland security-related topic areas and commercialize the results.
The program has three phases: Phase I for scientific, technical, and commercial merit determination; Phase II for continued R&D towards a prototype demonstration; and Phase III for commercialization or continued development from private or non-SBIR government sources.
