Founded in 2011, we are a nonprofit lender serving northeast Indiana.
As a: U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Micro Lender U.S. Department of the Treasury Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) We provide alternative financing for those who may not qualify for traditional bank loans due to: Business structure or industry type Need for smaller loan amounts Beyond financing, we offer business development services to support: Business plan writing & registration Bookkeeping & financial management Other essential business activities Personalized learning – We identify key areas where you need support Expert training – Learn from local business experts Flexible learning options – Choose from: Group workshops led by industry professionals One-on-one coaching with Brightpoint Development Fund staff Our goal is simple: to equip you with the knowledge and skills to grow and sustain your business.
At Brightpoint Development Fund, we go beyond just financing—we invest in your success. Every borrower participates in our technical assistance program, designed to build essential business skills based on individual needs.
Brightpoint Development Fund offers two small business loan products: Small Business Microloans Designed for start-ups and early-stage businesses , microloans help entrepreneurs move from a hobby or part-time venture to a full-time business .
Loan Amount: $5,000 to $50,000 Loan Length: 36 – 60 Months Loan Interest: 8-10% (subject to change) For new or growing businesses , these loans provide capital to expand operations, scale, or reach new milestones . Loan Amount: $50,001 to $200,000 Loan Interest: Prime + 1-3% (subject to change) Application and Loan Fees Application fee is $75. 00 Origination fees range from 1-3% of the loan A U.S. citizen or lawful resident.
Lawful residents include individuals with Permanent or Conditional Resident status (Green Card), Authorizations to Stay, Asylum, or Visas, as defined by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Own or plan to start a for-profit business or a nonprofit child care business in Brightpoint's service area (Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Elkhart, Fulton, Grant, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Marshall, Miami, Noble, St.
Joseph, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, and Whitley County) Registered with the Indiana Secretary of State Hold an EIN (Employer Identification Number) from the IRS Obtain any required licenses or certifications for the business No bankruptcy filed in the past 24 months Current on child support obligations In good standing with all State and Federal agencies No convictions for financial crimes such as fraud, theft, embezzlement, bribery, or forgery No ongoing criminal or civil cases related to fraud or financial misconduct Not currently on probation, parole, or serving a court-ordered sentence Apply for a Small Business Loan Ready to apply?

The common Brightpoint borrower is someone who has trouble accessing traditional financing because of past credit issues, limited collateral, not enough business history, limited owners’ equity in a project, or various other reasons. While a borrower may be lacking in some of these areas, Brightpoint will examine a borrower’s character, industry experience, and business plan when looking at a loan application.

Benefits to Financial Institutions We offer financial institutions a place to send business owners turned down for a loan while keeping them as customers.
