Comed Small Business & Nonprofit Energy Assistance Grant Comed Small Business & Nonprofit Energy Assistance Grant Small Business and Non-profit Energy Assistance Program This ComEd program provides a one-time variable grant up to $2,500 for non-residential customers who use less than 400 KW and demonstrate a special circumstance or hardship.
The maximum grant will be the lesser of 30% of their annual ComEd portion of their electrical bill or $2,500. The program runs May 1st to October 1st on a first-come/first-served basis, or until funds are exhausted. Applicants will be evaluated to determine whether they meet the program criteria and will be ranked based on the hardship experienced.
Qualifying customers will receive a credit on their subsequent month's ComEd bill. Note: If your organization received a Special Hardship Grant or a Condo Credit last year, you will not be eligible for a credit this program year. Program Eligibility Guidelines The applicant must be a ComEd bundled non-residential customer (as of January 1, 2007).
Annual electricity usage for 2007 must be less than 400 kW. The applicant must be a registered Not-For-Profit 501 (c)(3) Corporation or a Small Business Organization. (See below for definition of each).
Must be able to demonstrate a significant financial hardship for the organization or business. Must complete the program application and supply all of the required information to demonstrate program eligibility.
Sample Not-For-Profit 501 (c) (3) Corporations Centers for People with Disabilities Community-based Organizations Other Non-profit, Mission-driven 501(c)3 Organizations Small Business Organizations Small business organizations must be registered with the appropriate state governmental office, such the Illinois Secretary of State.
Small business customer is defined as: An independently owned and operated business with its principal office in Illinois that has 50 or fewer full time employees. All applications that meet the above requirements will be reviewed in the context of the entire application pool. Eligible customers in every ComEd legislative district will be given consideration.
Applications will be judged based on hardship and grants will be distributed until the fund is depleted. To be considered for this one-time variable grant through this program, please complete the online application form. The CNT Energy a division of Center for Neighborhood Technology (CNT) is working with ComEd to administer this program.
