Small Grant Program is sponsored by Texas Tropical Trail Region. This program offers small grants to nonprofit organizations or local government entities for projects promoting heritage tourism within the Texas Tropical Trail Region.

Texas Tropical Trail Region Small Grant Program – The Tropical Traveler Texas Tropical Trail Region Small Grant Program Texas Tropical Trail Region is pleased to announce the launch of a small grant program, with awards ranging from $500 to $3,000, to nonprofit organizations or local government entities for projects which promote heritage tourism in the region. Three projects in this grant cycle will be awarded.

Nonprofit organizations may include, but are not limited to, museums, “Friends” organizations that function on behalf of museums or libraries and preservation groups. Government entities may include, but are not limited to, city-run museums, county historical commissions, chambers of commerce, economic development corporations and Main Street communities. Note: Individuals are not eligible as grant recipients.

Projects must be related to heritage tourism .

Acceptable project categories include: Printed materials and publications (brochures, maps, rack cards, booklets, tour guides, etc.) Signage and wayfinding at heritage/history sites (funding may be used to replace worn/outdated signage) Exhibit development (landing pages, text panels or labels, banners, etc.) Educational programs (history presentations, History Harvests, collection management projects such as digitizing a collection to be accessible to the public) Applications must be completed and submitted by Friday, Oct.

Applicants must write a 300-word narrative as to why their project will encourage heritage tourism and provide a public benefit to the Tropical Trail Region. Recipients must write a 300-word completion report about the project including receipts for all associated costs covered by the grant. The entirety of the grant must be spent within the allotted timeframe.

Any remaining funds must be returned to Texas Tropical Trail Region . Misuse of funds will forfeit the entirety of the grant. Report is due 60 days after the project’s end date.

Recipients receiving grant funds must include Texas Tropical Trail (name, logo, etc.) in all media releases, printed and promotional materials, and any medium that the grant is announced. Extension requests may be considered but must be made thirty (30) days prior to the project end date. Applications open Tuesday, Sept.
