SoCalGas STEM Grants - LAXCEF Cowan Avenue Elementary School Westport Heights Elementary School Westside Neighborhood School Arts & Beautification Grants Rock Roll & Run For Education 2023 SoCalGas STEM Grants The Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas®) has partnered with the LAX Coastal Education Foundation to provide support for STEM programs and projects at local schools in the communities of Westchester, Playa del Rey, Playa Vista, Del Rey and Marina del Rey.
Grants are intended to support all forms of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) initiatives that focus on energy and/or sustainability education. Funding shall be used in support of specific activities for the school year, such as but not limited to competitions or materials for competitions, and ongoing curriculum for current and future classes. Grants are only open to LAX Coastal Ed Foundation Schools.
For the 2023-2024 school year, we've distributed $49,833 in grants! These grants will go toward supporting STEM education in K-12 schools including science fairs, robotics programs, clean energy projects and more! SoCalGas is the largest natural gas distribution utility in the United States, providing clean, safe, affordable and reliable natural gas service to 21.
7 million customers in Central and Southern California. It invests heavily in its communities, and employs professionals in many disciplines including mechanical, civil and chemical engineering, marketing, and accounting/finance. SoCalGas has served communities in California for 150 years and is committed to being a leader in the region’s clean energy future.
Congratulations to the following schools on being awarded a 2023-2024 STEM Grant: Katherine Johnson STEM Academy Westchester Lutheran School Wright Middle School receives STEM Grant from SoCalGas totaling $2,134. Westchester Enriched Sciences Magnet receives a $13,000 STEM grant from SoCalGas. Katherine Johnson STEM Academy receives the SoCalGas STEM Grant for Education in the amount of $4,800.
