Social Justice Fund is sponsored by The Pittsburgh Foundation. This fund supports social justice activists and advocates working in Pittsburgh to reduce barriers to funding, increase engagement and influence of community members, and challenge systems that perpetuate racial and economic inequity.

See Past Grantees Since 2023 To generate ideas and reactions to the proposed Social Justice Fund, the design committee facilitated a community feedback session in Oct. 2017. The Social Justice Fund is not accepting new applications in 2025.

Organizations that are aligned with the Social Justice Fund funding criteria may consider applying to our Foundation-Directed Grantmaking Program under the Equity and Social Justice focus area . The Social Justice Fund was created to strengthen support for efforts that address the root causes of inequity and increase the engagement, power and influence of community members affected by economic inequality.

The fund was co-designed by Foundation staff and social justice leaders who urged the Foundation to increase its support for social change efforts that are led by those who are closest to the community issues it seeks to address.
