Sopel Foundation for Dyslexia Grants

Sopel Foundation for Dyslexia Grants is a grant from the Sopel Foundation for Dyslexia that funds nonprofits and educational institutions working to improve diagnosis, treatment, and support for individuals with dyslexia.

Founded by NHL player Brent Sopel — who overcame dyslexia himself — the foundation focuses on early detection and intervention, given that an estimated 1 in 5 school-aged children are dyslexic but only 20–30% receive a diagnosis. Eligible activities include grants and scholarships for K-12 educators pursuing training to support students with reading disorders, improved dyslexia testing initiatives, and public awareness efforts.

Open to nonprofit organizations and educational institutions. Award amounts vary.

Brent has been a mentor to me as a mom with a child with dyslexia and a huge help to her with suggesting of accomodations to help her at school. After implementing Brent's suggestions in my daughter's classes, her educational experience was much better. She felt she was actually learning and understanding things better.
