SJG First Responders Grant Program SJG First Responders Grant Program is intended to provide critical support for operations conducted by first responder departments.

Each first responder department must be comprised of paid staff or volunteers that serve within the South Jersey Gas service area Click here for a listing of service areas by county The grant must be used to fund training or to purchase/upgrade gear and equipment utilized to protect volunteer fire and/or EMS personnel, police, and/or the community including medical and first-aid gear, traffic flares, body armor, gas meters, fire hoses, communications equipment, safety cameras, and personal protective equipment.

Each month our Utility Bill Assistance Outreach team attends events in the community to provide helpful information to those who need it most. Students will learn what AI is and is not, how we interact with AI in daily life, ethical implications of AI, and much more. Students will also learn how to use Microsoft Azure to build AI applications. Providing learning opportunities for students interested in science, technology, engineering, and math provides a head start to early career exploration.

SJG sponsors the first ever 7 on 7 High School Football Summer Classic South Jersey Gas was the presenting sponsor for the first ever 7 on 7 High School Football Summer Classic brought in partnership with Zech McPhearson and Milton Williams of the Philadelphia Eagles!

The event took place on July 1st at Eastern Junior Vikings Field in Voorhees, NJ, and featured football players from local high schools competing against each other for a $5,000 cash prize. It was a memorable showcase of talent, teamwork, and community support with Millville High School winning the trophy and cash prize.

This event fostered a sense of community and showcased local athlete abilities while receiving coaching from seasoned professionals. South Jersey Gas continues to invest in the future of our community and our youth. Congratulations to our 125,000 th Utility Customer!

We're pleased to announce the 125,000th customer to participate in the New Jersey Comfort Partners Program. This program provides free energy-saving measures to income-eligible households to improve their home's energy efficiency and health and safety challenges. This customer's home had almost no insulation in the attic, leaking ductwork and energy and safety risks with both an aging furnace and clothes dryer.

The Comfort Partners program team addressed the safety and comfort concerns at no cost to the customer.

Repurposing Reusable Bags SJI’s Green Team, an internal employee resource group that empowers employees to support & create a sustainable environment in local communities, is partnering with the Community Foodbank of New Jersey to encourage New Jersey residents to donate their extra bags to local food banks and affiliated organizations.

Since New Jersey’s single-use plastic bag ban went into effect in May 2022, many residents are finding that they have a surplus of reusable bags. Grocery stores and other retailers are packaging every online pickup and home delivery order in new reusable bags. The result is excess bags, and people are left wondering what to do with them.

The plastic bag ban has also presented a challenge for organizations that package and distribute food to New Jerseyans in need. SJG employees are collecting and donating bags, but you can also get involved! The Community Foodbank of New Jersey is accepting donations of new or clean, gently used reusable bags.

Click here to find a donation drop off center near you . You can also encourage your friends and family to donate too. VETS Food Drive for the Red Cross Service to Armed Forces Our Veterans Engagement Team (VETS) collected 4,893 pounds of food -- which is enough to feed 272 families!

On February 26, 2022, VETS held a food drive with the Red Cross by setting up collection points throughout New Jersey and encouraged customers, employees and families from SJI’s utility companies South Jersey Gas and Elizabethtown Gas to drop off non-perishable items. Volunteers then delivered several truckloads of food to the Red Cross for distribution at the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

VETS is an employee resource group at SJI that supports the personal growth and professional development of former servicemen and women. The Red Cross Service to Armed Forces program provides home comforts and critical services on bases, in military hospitals and supports military families during deployments and emergencies.

Fifth Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Each year, SJI demonstrates our core value of “community” with our Dr. Martin Luther King Day of Service. On Monday, January 17, 2022 South Jersey Gas employees, along with all our parent company SJI, participated in activities to give back to the community while remaining safe and healthy. As part of the activities, we continued our ongoing partnership with Stockton University.

In addition, employees helped raise over $1,500 for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. 2022 America Heart Association Walk Our employees supported the American Heart Association (AHA) on May 21, 2022 at their annual Spring Heart Walk in Ocean City, NJ. Employee across our organization raised over $46,000, greatly surpassing our fundraising goal.

Our Outreach Team regularly participates in community food distribution events to help customers get the Utility Bill Assistance they need. We’re here to help. We recognize that challenging times may continue for residents and businesses.
