Habitat for Humanity Flood Relief Drive Habitat for Humanity of the Tri-State is organizing a flood relief drive in partnership with the Buckhannon River Habitat for Humanity. Donations will be accepted at the Huntington, WV Restore and the New Boston, OH Restore. Collections will be transported and delivered on July 31st.

Patrick Morrisey formally requested an expedited Major Disaster Declaration for West Virginia following the severe storms, tornadoes, flash flooding and landslides that began July 21. On Aug.

3, President Donald Trump approved expedited Individual Assistance for Lewis and Upshur counties, providing an initial $4. 5 million in federal recovery funding. FEMA continues reviewing requests for the remaining counties included in the state’s declaration request.

SBA Disaster Loans Now Available The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering low-interest disaster loans to businesses, private nonprofits, homeowners and renters impacted by the severe storms, tornadoes, flooding, landslides and mudslides that occurred July 21–22.

Lewis and Upshur counties are eligible for both physical damage and Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL), while small businesses and eligible nonprofits in Barbour, Braxton, Doddridge, Gilmer, Harrison, Randolph and Webster counties may apply for EIDL assistance. A Business Recovery Center will open Aug. 7 at the UCDA Innovation Center in Buckhannon to provide one-on-one application assistance.

The deadline to apply for physical damage loans is Oct. 3, 2026 , and the deadline for Economic Injury Disaster Loans is May 3, 2027 . Visit sba.
