The Department of Education's IES SBIR program is one of the most overlooked non-dilutive funding sources for education-technology startups. It funds prototypes at $250K and proven products at $1M with no equity taken. Here is how the FY2026 tracks work, what reviewers reward, and why the June 29 deadline is tighter than it looks.
Read articleNSF's CAREER program — a minimum $400,000 over five years for pre-tenure faculty — has a single annual deadline on July 22, 2026. The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget projects a cumulative gap of $61 billion to $97 billion through 2035 even after the one-time fix. The Pell program is the foundation of need-based federal student aid, but the structural mismatch between rising costs and appropriations is a permanent feature now. Here is what that means for institutions, foundations, and state higher-ed agencies.
