Special Projects: Defending Democracy & Supporting Justice – The Lodestar Foundation Special Projects: Defending Democracy & Supporting Justice Believing that all our citizens are entitled to a free, fair, and transparent democracy, we have invested in several nonprofits focused on defending democratic ideals, norms and institutions and promoting liberty, equality, and truth.
We have also made a variety of grants to support projects and programs promoting equal rights and expanded access to justice for all U.S. residents.
Recipients of our grants to support justice and defend democracy are: American Constitution Society for Law & Policy Anti-Defamation League Arizona Arizona Center for Law in the Public Interest Arizona College Scholarship Foundation , Immigrant Scholarship Fund Bridge Alliance Education Fund Center for Constitutional Design at Sandra Day O’Connor School of Law Center for Public Interest Research Center for the Future of Arizona Citizen Legislators Caucus Foundation Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington Clean Elections Institute Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget Community Outreach & Advocacy for Refugees Defending Democracy Together Institute Democracy Funders Network Florence Immigration & Refugee Rights Project Free Expression Legal Network Lodestar Dispute Resolution Center National Conference for Community and Justice National Conflict Resolution Center Progressive Jewish Alliance Project on Government Oversight Renew Democracy Initiative RepresentUs Education Fund Sandra Day O’Connor Institute for American Democracy The Foundation for Research on Equal Opportunity The Trustees of Princeton University T’ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights In addition, a number of the principal parties in Lodestar formed two nonprofits (both unrelated and separately-funded organizations)—Educating Citizens on Government Corruption, and Campaign for Accountability and Transparency dba Make Integrity Great Again—which disbursed in excess of $2,000,000 to support public integrity in elected and appointed government officials.
