Specialist DFV Programs: National Open Grant Round - Australian Communities Foundation The Specialist DFV Programs National Open Grant Round is a partnership between Paul Ramsay Foundation (PRF) and Australian Communities Foundation. Since 2017, PRF has granted over $38 million to organisations improving the safety of women and children experiencing domestic and family violence (DFV).

In 2020 and 2021, PRF partnered with Australian Communities Foundation to distribute $3 million in targeted relief for women’s shelters and refuges across Australia. This investment addressed the capacity needs of specialist organisations providing crisis services to communities doubly affected by DFV and the Covid-19 pandemic.

This funding program supports existing specialist programs for key communities affected by DFV across Australia. In addition to providing financial support to enable eligible organisations to continue or expand their work in this area, PRF aims to develop a network of specialist organisations with expertise in the prevention and mitigation of violence for key communities.

PRF will consult with this network of partners to share insights and learnings, build relationships, and inform future work.

From Tuesday 24 January 2023, Australian organisations can submit an application for a one-off grant of up to $250,000 (where the duration of the grant can be up to 2 years) to support the delivery of an existing specialist DFV program(s) with a primary focus on one or more of the following key cohorts: Victim survivor cohorts: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities; LGBTQIA+ people; Migrant and refugee women; Pregnant women; Rural and remote communities; Single mothers ; Women living with disability Children and young people Perpetrators and users of violence Before you apply, read the guidelines below or download here .

Paul Ramsay Foundation aims to break cycles of disadvantage in Australia by enabling equitable opportunity for people and communities to thrive. Our approach is to invest in and partner with organisations across Australia with a direct connection to the people and places they work alongside. Your organisation MUST meet ALL the below requirements to be eligible for funding.

Recipient organisations must: be Australian charities registered with the ACNC be based in, and work with communities located, in Australia operate and deliver existing specialist DFV program(s) by paid specialist staff with a primary focus on one or more of the identified affected cohorts including victim survivors (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, LGBTQIA+ people, migrant and refugee women, pregnant women, rural and remote communities, single mothers, and women living with disability), children and young people, perpetrators and users of violence.

DFV program(s) like those mentioned above should represent at least 70% of your organisation’s activities and focus. Your organisation does NOT need to meet all priorities to apply.

Significant experience in operating existing specialist program(s) delivered by paid specialist staff Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander-led programs Programs led or informed by people with lived experience of DFV Capacity and desire to join a national cohort collective for 12 – 18 months to share insights with peers and PRF on a quarterly basis If successful in your application, you will receive the grant in approximately June or July 2023.

Evolving or scaling up existing programs Operational expenses (e.g. program delivery costs).

Funds may be used to reinstate established programs that have been put on hold due to lack of funding within the last 3 years Specialist staff salaries and support Measurement and evaluation of eligible program/s (including data capture) that are currently being delivered, where this work is being undertaken by the eligible organisation and not a third party Essential and relevant capital expenditure (e.g. infrastructure & transport costs) Cohort-informed advocacy aimed at systemic change of DFV outcomes in Australia.

Funding cannot be used for: Piloting or establishing new programs Research projects and activities Non-charitable or partisan activities. Please note that due to the high volume of applications anticipated for this grant round, limited feedback will be provided to unsuccessful applicants.

Grants awarded: June/July 2023 All applications must be submitted in full including any supporting documentation by 5pm AEDT on the closing date.
