CDFA - Specialty Crop Block Grant Program Specialty Crop Block Grant Program The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) conducts an annual competitive solicitation process to award Specialty Crop Block Grant Program (SCBGP) funds to projects that enhance the competitiveness of California specialty crops.
Specialty crops are fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, and horticulture and nursery crops (including floriculture). 2026 Specialty Crop Block Grant Program Phase II: Grant Proposal (by invitation only) Grant proposals to USDA for approval Announce and Award Funding 2026 SCBGP Additional Assistance for Limited Resource Applicants Program Grant Proposals to USDA for Approval Announce and award funding 2026 SCBGP Additional Assistance for Historically Underrepresented Organizations (Additional Assistance) Program The intent of the Additional Assistance Program is to provide a process through which organizations that have been historically underrepresented in the SCBGP can participate and successfully implement their SCBGP projects.
Eligibility for the Additional Assistance Program includes non-profit organizations, Tribal governments (federally and non-federally recognized), and K-12 school districts that have not previously received SCBGP funding, do not have technical expertise with grant writing, and who work directly in either supporting underserved and beginning farmers or providing nutrition education and/or access to specialty crops in underserved communities.
Applicants are eligible to receive technical assistance on the Additional Assistance Program application and should email grants@cdfa. ca. gov as soon as possible to begin receiving assistance with their Concept Proposal.

The program aims to increase American energy independence and decrease energy demand. Grants can cover up to 50% of eligible project costs.
Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) Farmer Rancher Grants is a competitive grant program from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) that funds research and education projects advancing sustainable agricultural practices across the United States and its territories. Projects may address topics such as pastured livestock, rotational grazing, no-till and conservation tillage, high tunnels, and local food systems. Grants are available to individual farmers, ranchers, extension agents, and other educators. SARE funding may not be used to start a farm or make large capital purchases such as land or equipment. Awards range from $5,000 to $25,000 and are administered regionally through four SARE offices covering the North Central, Northeast, South, and West.
