The UK government has been proactive in measuring the economic impact of sport and has consistently produced annual Sport Satellite Accounts based on the Vilnius definition of sport. This approach has facilitated comparisons between the UK sport economy and other European economies, allowing for reliable conclusions about the growth of the sector.
The current research, using 2021 data, provides an update to previous studies by continuously monitoring the sport economy and assessing the extent of its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
